In order to meet our patients’ needs, Dr. Joseph Fullmer provides dental implant placement and jaw surgery in Heber, Utah. When a tooth or teeth is restored with dental implants, the implant posts are surgically placed in the jawbone. As the jawbone heals, it will fuse with the dental implant. Because of this, the implant becomes a part of the smile. Jaw surgery may be needed prior to implant placement if there is not sufficient bone structure to support the implant post.
If the lower jawbone does not have enough structure, our surgeon may recommend bone grafting. During this surgical procedure, Dr. Joseph Fullmer will transplant bone and encourage the growth of new bone in the jaw. When your jaw has healed, a dental implant post can be put in place. In the case of insufficient bone structure in the upper arch, a sinus lift may be performed. Our surgeon will lift the sinus membrane upward to make room for more bone. A bone graft is placed between the maxillary sinuses and the jaw. The enhanced bone structure will be able to support a dental implant once it has healed.
